02/08/2012 - Meet Marie Bushor.
Meet our Competetive Soccer Director, Marie Bushor.
Marie Bushor has been with G.Y.A.A. since July of 2006 as the Secretary, as well as a sports parent. She has been a summer camp coordinator, done some fundraising, and helped with special events, such as the Memorial Day Tournament, the Fall Playoffs for Pioneer Valley and the Volunteer Appreciation Dinners. She oversaw the creation of the G.Y.A.A. website, and is currently hoping to head up a committee to select our new soccer uniforms. If anyone would like to join in. I am also on the Memorial Day Tournament committee, as the Marketing and PR person.
Marie believes that being part of a sports team can provide a sense of self-confidence through achievement, create friendships and promote physical fitness.

Meet our Recreational Basketball Director, Nancy Bals.
Nancy Bals is Associate Athletics Director for Business and Operations/SWA at Westfield State University. She assists in overseeing 21 varsity sports and supervising the Woodward Center.
Prior to joining the staff at Westfield State in 1996, Nancy was the head women's basketball coach at Endicott College. Nancy played basketball for eight years including 2 years at Western Texas Junior College and two years at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico where she was 2nd team all-conference in the Lone Star Conference.
Nancy lives in Huntington with her husband, Bill Miller and son, Wade. Nancy encourages all kids to sign up for youth sports and currently is emphasizing basketball. "Playing rec basketball introduces the game to kids and teaches them about team work. While they learn basketball concepts and skills they are also introduced to winning and losing. It is also a fun way to exercise and get out of the house during the long winter."

09/29/2011 - Volunteer meeting announced.
All potential volunteers for G.Y.A.A. are encouraged to attend our General Meeting on October 4, 2011. There are various open positions available, including Executive Board positions, as well as a newly formed team approach to fundraising and field maintenance.
FACT: Many of the current volunteers have children who are approaching the age limit to play sports for G.Y.A.A. This means, that if parents of younger, upcoming players do not volunteer soon, this organization will stop operating. Subsequently, there will be no more sports in the hilltowns for our kids.
FACT: it takes a minimum of 8 individuals to fully staff the Executive Board of this organization.
FACT: This organization has never turned away a player based on their inability to pay. Our mission statement is based on the concept of getting as many kids to play as possible. Don't you want yours to be one of them?
FACT: We receive 4 times more complaints about the way things are done, than new volunteers who want to help make things better.
Now that you know the facts, won't you come to our meeting and see what you can do to help? WE NEED YOU
